Thailand - An evangelical presence in the world: Daughters of Queenship of Mary

09 October 2018

(ANS - Bangkok) - Living in the world to spread the Word of God and sow joy: this is the mission of the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary, a Women's Secular Institute of Diocesan Right, founded by the Salesian Servant of God Fr Carlo della Torre on 3 December 1954 in Bangkok, Thailand. The institute, the 19th of the Salesian Family, has just celebrated significant anniversaries of the profession of several consecrated women, and the entry of a young new consecrated woman.

Last Saturday, 6 October, Ausunta Juraluk Mayer made her first profession in the Institute of the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary (DQM). Maria Sarintip Kitsawat, formerly Head of Catholic Social Communication in Thailand, and Sabena Sujittra Saengdaeng, professor of Phonetics at the "Holy Mary School" of Udon Thani, also celebrated their 25 years of religious fidelity.

The qualified service, in their respective fields, of these two consecrated persons, is a concrete expression of the institute's charism, which leads its members to live the three evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience within society, to be yeast in the world. Other features of the institute are the spirit of family, which draws its source in the model of the Holy Family of Nazareth and in the teachings of Don Bosco, and the devotion to Mary and the Eucharist.

From its very beginning, the mission of the institute was to renew and increase the Kingdom of God through prayer and commitment in society, in particular through catechesis and the evangelization of families and young people. Following the indications of their founder, the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary believe that through the young it is possible to send the message of love of the Gospel to their parents, to other young people and to adults in general; for this the consecrated women, besides offering their testimony of life in Christ, commit themselves to educating young people to become good Christians and honest citizens.

Currently the institute is established across 6 dioceses throughout Thailand and has about 40 members, between perpetual and temporary professed.
