RMG – Seminar on the promotion of causes of beatification and canonization

04 April 2016

(ANS - Rome) - To enhance the spiritual, pastoral and educational heritage of holiness born of Don Bosco; to offer guidelines and best practices for promoting the causes of candidates for canonized sainthood in the Salesian Family; to help in investigating and following up alleged miracles; and to understand the true meaning and purpose of a canonization process - these are some of the ambitious goals of the Seminar to promote the causes of beatification and canonization of the Salesian Family to be held at the Salesianum in Rome, from 6 to 10 April.

More than 100 participants from different parts of the world are expected to attend this event. In addition to the presence of many consecrated persons there will also be a significant participation of lay people who share an interest and passion for promoting knowledge of the holiness of life of many men and women who have lived their Christian lives in the light of the charism of Don Bosco.

In addition to the vice-postulators, there will also be collaborators and promoters from the places where the candidates for holiness in the Salesian Family were born or where they lived their vocation and mission, or where their memory is particularly widespread. There will be representatives from the charismatic centres of Turin-Valdocco, Colle Don Bosco and Mornese, as well as persons linked to formation centres, and centres of spirituality and communication.

There will be talks, experiences, moments of sharing and group work to promote the knowledge of the Saints and candidates for sainthood of the Salesian Family, as exemplary witnesses of sequela Christi; availability in faithful imitation; thanksgiving and supplication for spiritual and material favours and miracles. All this is in order to strengthen and develop a feeling of closeness to the Saints, an affinity of heart and mind, an affective and spiritual "sympathy" and a "spiritual communion". It will keep alive their reputation for holiness and will also be a true pedagogy of holiness.

A special section for the event has been set up on the sdb.org site. It contains the detailed programme of activities and the contents of the seminar will be placed there.
