05 May 2016

(ANS – Trichy) – The three-month long extraordinary visitation in India-Tiruchy Province by Fr Václav Klement, Councillor for the East Asia-Oceania Region, came to its happy conclusion on 30 April 2016.

Fr. Klement SDB began the extraordinary visitation in INT in the name of the Rector Major Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime on 1 February 2016 with the inaugural Mass and conference. From 2 February 2016 he began visiting various Salesian communities in the Province. On 27 April 2016 he concluded visiting the communities in Don Bosco Provincial House.

After 2 days of preparation he met the Provincial Council and shared his evaluation of the Province on 29 April 2016. On 30 April 2013 he presented his report to the gathering of Salesians including the Provincial Council Members, leaders of communities and confreres.

Fr. Klement presented the method of his assessment as listening, interpreting and looking for the way forward (see, judge and act). He enumerated 12 positive things for which the Province can thank God and 12 challenges to be embraced. He also summarized the challenges under the titles of Consecrated life, Salesian Life and Community Life. He called for discussion on the report in small groups of confreres. After a short discussion confreres shared the striking points of the report.

Marking the conclusion of the extraordinary visit, Fr. Klement inaugurated the Don Bosco Eco Concern: a ten point programme towards a green lifestyle. He launched a book titled “Divine Providence” written by Fr. Edward Xavier SDB of INT. He also launched the May 2016 issue of URAVU, the INT Province newsletter, and the Letter of Don Bosco from Rome translated to Tamil.

At 12 noon the concluding Holy Eucharist was presided over by the extraordinary visitor. The Provincial, Fr Albert Johnson SDB, thanked Fr Vaclav Klement SDB for his presence in the name of the Rector Major and presented him a statue of Our Lady of Vellankanni as a token of gratitude from INT.
