San Pedro Carchá, Guatemala - January 2020 - The celebration of St John Bosco at the "Talita Kumi" Center in San Pedro Carchá was the occasion for the perpetual profession of Zoila Candelaria Mez Xol and Amalia Tiul Caal, of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection. The Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection is the 22nd group of the Salesian Family and in its 43 years of existence, it has founded ten communities in the dioceses of Verapaz and Quiché and in the apostolic vicariates of Petén and Izabal. It currently has 42 nuns with perpetual vows, 7 novices and 18 juniors. The nuns manage four educational centers, equipped with internships, which welcome a total of 700 girls; in addition, three of them also educate another 800 external students. The sisters work in 11 parishes, animating missionary pastoral care in 650 rural communities, and offering catechesis to about 25,000 children and 10,000 adolescents and young people. Salesian spirituality and pedagogy have been inculturated in the rich cultural world of the Qeqchí natives.
