India – Fr Tom Uzhunnalil Released
(ANS - Bangalore) - Salesian Indian missionary Fr Thomas Uzhunnalil, seized more than 18 months ago in Yemen by a group of guerrillas, is released. According to the Indian media who announced the news, the Salesian religious is now in Muscat, Oman. Official confirmation came from a tweet by Sushma Swaraj, the Honourable Indian Foreign Minister.
Fr Uzhunnalil was kidnapped by a group of armed men on March 4, 2016, during an attack on the home of the Missionaries of Charity in Aden, Yemen, where 16 people died, including 4 religious.

(ANS - Nairobi) - Fr Camiel Swertvagher is one of a few Belgian missionaries and has been a missionary in three Central African countries: Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. It was in 1975 that he was sent, for the first time, to Burundi as a missionary, exactly 100 years after Don Bosco's first missionary expedition in 1875. He talks to ANS about his experience and the challenges he’s encountered over the years.
RMG – East Asia-Oceania ADMA Congress 2021: a rich charismatic experience
(ANS – Rome) – After a long and involved preparation since January 2020, the Second EAO ADMA Congress, the first online, was a true rich and inspiring charismatic experience. On 11-12 September, for 3 hours each day, several hundred ADMA members, their spiritual animators SDB and FMA, SDB Provincials, young Salesians in formation and other members of the Salesian Family came together to pray, deepen their identity, interact and get to know each other better.
Argentina – Centenary of the death of Msgr. Giacomo Costamagna, SDB
(ANS - Buenos Aires) - Giacomo Costamagna certainly plays a leading role among the missionary pioneers who have made the Salesian Congregation great, the first Salesian missionary to join the indigenous people of Ecuador, who was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Méndez y Gualaquiza, and who was above all a great animator and promoter of the whole Salesian mission in America. Because of the centenary of his death, which took place on 9 September 1921 in Bernal, Argentina, we commemorate his life and works.
