(ANS – Péliföldszentkereszt) – On September 14, in Péliföldszentkereszt – where the Salesians first settled in Hungary – 14 stations of the Via Lucis were blessed. The Via Lucis is a liturgical-devotional journey in which the events in the life of Christ and the nascent Church from the Resurrection of Jesus to Pentecost are commemorated, initiated, and promoted since 1988 by the Movement of "Witnesses of the Risen One," 20th group of the Salesian Family. The Via Lucis that has been erected along the sylvan trail starting from the Salesian House is the outstanding work of Péter Párkányi Raab, the Kossuth Prize-winning sculptor, and it is the first of its kind in Hungary. The carved stone images depict moments of Christ meeting people after the Resurrection until the Ascension, emphasizing that the life of Christ here on earth did not end with the Crucifixion, but continues every day.

(ANS - Nakatsu) - Fr. Peter Yasutaka Muramatsu, SDB, is a Japanese Salesian, Rector of the Nakatsu House on Kyushu Island in southern Japan. What he is best known for, however, at least on the web, is his work as a magician, for which he adopted the stage name “Don "Mickey.” His passion for prestidigitation dates back almost 40 years, when Fr. Muramatsu was a boy, and grew and was motivated during his years of theological training in Paranaque, Philippines, following the example of Don Bosco, who first used juggling and conjuring tricks to attract young people and lead them to Jesus.

(ANS - Turin) - In the wake of the educational experience of Don Bosco, who passionately affirmed that "an oratory without music is like a body without a soul," the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, together with the Concert Society of Turin, is organizing the "Arthur Schnabel International Festival of Young Concert Players" on July 28-29 and July 30.

(ANS - Krakow) - At the Salesian church of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Krakow-Dębniki, Fr. Leszek and Fr. Robert Kruczek, Salesians and twin brothers, have been holding art workshops for fifteen years: icon-writing, easel painting, small forms of sculpture... Classes are held regularly, every Monday from October to June. Most of the participants are older people for whom this meeting is a real joy because, as one of the participants said, it is often the only joy they can look forward to all week. Each Monday the meeting begins with a prayer:

(ANS - Pamplona) - The Salesian School and Vocational Training Center complex in Pamplona, in its new location in Sarriguren-Valle de Egües, has been recognized as a valuable architectural work by the Official College of Architects of the Basque Country and Navarre (COAVN, in Spanish), which deemed it the winner of the Prize it awards in the "Public and Technological Buildings" section. For this, last June 14, in the "Baluarte" Auditorium in Pamplona, architects Álvaro Cordero, Carlos Garmendia, Daniel Azpilicueta, Imanol Carlos García de Albéniz, Iñaki Tanco, and Pedro Garmendía, who designed and built the work, were honored by the COAVN, together with Fr. Jorge Lanchas, as a representative of the sponsoring institution, the Salesians of Don Bosco.

(ANS - Turin) - The Mission Animation of the Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta, in collaboration with the "Don Bosco House Museum" and the Regional Board of Vocational Training "CNOS-FAP," is pleased to promote the mission exhibition "7 NON RUBARE la giusta mercede" curated by Massimiliano Ungarelli, a well-known contemporary artist from Turin.

  • Italy – A Salesian on the front line of the war in Ukraine: "Being close counts, words come later"

(ANS - Rome) - As he tells with a gentleness that does not seem to come from horror, he is "resting a little bit" in Rome these days. Fr Oleh Ladnyuk is a Ukrainian Salesian priest who is a military chaplain at the front, among the soldiers who fight in defence of their country and among the civilians who for over two years have seen their lives wiped out. He brings humanitarian aid where the missiles fall and from those places he helps with the evacuation of young people and adults - so far at least 500 people, but there are probably many more. These days the Salesian – who carries out his ministry in Dnipro and teaches History in a state school in the city – is in Rome to take part with two other priests and a dozen lay people from his country in the "Accompanying when Trauma Hits" course hosted by the Pontifical Salesian University in collaboration with the Faculty of Educational Sciences, with the DON BOSCO NEL MONDO Foundation and the Don Bosco Network. A project that aims to provide theoretical and methodological tools to deal with the traumas caused by war.

(ANS – Naypyidaw) - Myanmar finds itself immersed in profound grief and anguish as innocent lives, particularly those of children, continue to be mercilessly lost in the enduring armed conflicts. This week, a heartfelt plea from Myanmar reached our community, shedding light on the heart-wrenching death of a young girl Juliet in a military airstrike, prompting a unified call for prayers and action.
