Bratislava, Slovakia - May 2016 - The 27th International Salesian Youth Games ended on 8 May. This was the first time the games were held in two countries, Slovakia and Austria, under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovakia, Andrej Kiska. The event was attended by about 1,000 young people from 13 countries, who competed in various sports, and 260 volunteers from the Salesian oratories of Slovakia. Fr Fabio Attard, Councillor General for Youth Ministry, presided over the Eucharistic celebration before the finals of the games. The participants then moved to Vienna for a guided tour and a cultural program at the "Salesian Gymnasium" of Unterwaltersdorf.
Montevideo, Uruguay - May 2016 - The feast of Saints Philip and James, the patrons of Montevideo, was celebrated on 7 May. The Eucharistic celebration, which was attended by about three thousand faithful, was presided over by Salesian Cardinal Daniel Sturla, Archbishop of Montevideo. Later, the cardinal met a group of young people and answered their questions.
(ANS - Kapolowe) - Hansen's disease, commonly known as leprosy, is a disease that causes not only suffering but also social stigma. Those who are infected, even if they are cured, continue to suffer the clinical consequences and often also social consequences. It is to these people in need of recognition and friendship that young members of the missionary circles of the South of the Democratic Republic of Congo demonstrated their closeness. On Sunday 8 May they visited them and shared with them the results of the solidarity campaign carried out during Lent.
(ANS - Madrid) - In the course of a really festive occasion, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, presented himself as a father, offering the appropriate word to each group he met. Meeting the 400 Salesians he spoke to them from the heart: "We have a beautiful Congregation"; "We are people of faith, with our weaknesses", but with "a common project" and "we do a lot of good."
Richmond, United States - April 2016 – On Friday 15 April some students from the Salesian College Preparatory in Richmond engaged in social activities for the benefit of the local community. They sang Salesian songs as they worked side by side with other young people in the neighbourhood, weeding the yard of a kindergarten and repainting some of the buildings.
(ANS – Vienna) - Sunday 27th April 2016 brought 22 participants from 9 different countries to Vienna for the 6-day European training course ‘Speak Up!’ - an intensive course on youth advocacy and refugees run by Don Bosco Youth-Net. The training course aimed to develop the competence of the participants in developing and implementing advocacy actions while focussing on the impact on local, regional, national and European level, in particular policies affecting young refugees.

Italy – Birth Centenary Conference on Ven. Fr Giuseppe Quadrio, SDB
(ANS - Turin) – On Saturday, 27 November, a conference will be held on the figure of the venerable Salesian Fr Giuseppe Quadrio in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Theology of the Crocetta in Turin on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.
RMG – “How Don Bosco greatly inspired people and developed a personal and effective relationship in educating the young”
(ANS - Rome) - The third of the ten monthly articles presented by the General Councillor for Social Communication, Fr Gildasio Mendes, on the theme "Don Bosco and the Digital and Virtual Reality", deals with yet another peculiar aspect of the communication of the Saint of Youth, namely, on how he was able to inspire so many people thanks to the development of meaningful personal relationships.
