The one that touches peoples’ lives and transforms them

My friends, readers of the Salesian Bulletin, I greet you again with all cordiality by means of this Salesian magazine founded by Don Bosco himself. It was his intention to use this bulletin to convey to the laity the reality of his young Salesian Congregation, which sought to be faithful to God as it was growing little by little. As we read in the 1877 issue, it "is published to give a report of things done or to be done according to the purpose of the Salesian mission, which is the care of souls and the good of civil society."

Nave, Italy - March 2021 - From 14 to 16 March the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, visited the Salesian community of the post-novitiate of Nave (Brescia). The Rector Major met with the formation community, the young Salesians, the formation team and the Dean of the Study Center. He encouraged the community to put the charismatic identity at the center of formation, personalizing formation paths and giving great importance to the formation of the heart, "a heart that beats in unison for God and for the young". The evening was enlivened by a moment of celebration where the young Salesians presented the house in Nave from its foundation in 1938 to the present day. During his visit, the Rector Major was accompanied by the Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, and by Fr Francisco Santos Montero, a member of the Department for Formation.

  • Colombia – Cali: Former child soldiers wear Don Bosco's "uniform"

(ANS - Cali) – Colombia’s guerrilla warfare began in 1952 and has caused over 300,000 deaths, while at the same time fueling the growth of powerful drug cartels. At the “Don Bosco Center” in Cali, however, young people who have known nothing but guerrillas and guerilla warfare are welcomed and accompanied on their path towards rehabilitation.

The pandemic has changed the way in which we relate with the world, others, and ourselves. We need to rebuild and to begin again in greater solidarity and with greater awareness so as to rebound from a silent calamity marked by pain, confinement, struggle, and fear. What would Don Bosco do if he were alive today?
