(ANS - San Salvador) – One day in the autumn of 1846 Mamma Margaret decided to go for a walk with her son Don Bosco. "Mother,” said the son who was then a young priest, “my oratory needs a mother". As he spoke Don Bosco thought: "How can I ask my mother to leave the Becchi, where she is comfortable, well known by all, and living quietly among her fields and with her grandchildren? How can I ask her to leave her quiet rural life and to move to a noisy city among rough young boys? ". The answer to his question was not long in coming: "if it seems that it is pleasing to the Lord, I'm ready to leave immediately." From that moment Mamma Margaret became the motherly presence of all the Salesian centres in the world.
(ANS – Rome) – In 1877 Don Bosco thought about printing a publication that was destined to last over time. "It has been decided to print a Bulletin which will be like a newspaper of the Congregation, because there are many things to be communicated. It will be a regular bulletin, a link between Cooperators and Salesians." Following in the footsteps of the founder, the directors of the Salesian Bulletin around the world participated in a special meeting which concluded in the presence of the Rector Major Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and the Councillor for social communication, Fr Filiberto Gonzalez.

We are a tapestry of stories
One of the most beautiful experiences we live as educators is when a young person approaches us during the day and asks us for a minute because he must confide something important to us: “Father, I'm in love, I'm the happiest person in the world. I really wanted to tell you because you are an important person for me.” His face has a strange luminosity, the words overlap, there is agitation and then silence. They await our reply. Sometimes they just wait until we tell them that we are happy and that we share their joy, a word of encouragement. The magic of the moment is felt. And heard.
What a teenager needs most is being “listened to, heard”.
Argentina – "Zatti, our brother", preview of short film much-awaited by Salesian Family worldwide
(ANS - Buenos Aires) - "Zatti, our brother" is a short film on the Salesian nurse Artemide Zatti (1880 - 1951), who for forty years dedicated himself to the care of the poor and sick of Viedma, Rio Negro. There he directed one of the first hospitals in Patagonia, which in fact bears his name.
Israel – Challenges of the Salesians in Cremisan and Nazareth
(ANS - Cremisan) - In order to restore impetus to the Cremisan house in Israel, the Salesians are organizing a series of activities aimed at involving the local inhabitants, such as mini-training courses related to the cultivation of olives, horticulture, and the construction of hanging gardens, courses created in collaboration with the Palestinian government's Ministry of Agriculture to encourage women's firms and offer tools for organic and sustainable agriculture.
MESSAGES OF THE RECTOR MAJOR
THE GREATEST OF ALL IS LOVE
"In moments of difficult trials such as these, it is love that gives us life"
Dear Friends and Readers of the Salesian Bulletin:
Receive my cordial greeting at a time when all our minds are overwhelmed. I am writing these words on April 1st, thinking about the month of May, the month of our Mother. We have entrusted ourselves to her throughout the Salesian world during this very painful period of the Covid-19, or “coronavirus”, pandemic. From all parts of the world, we have raised up prayers – and continue to do so – to ask the Lord through the intercession of our Mother for help and comfort in these terrible hours for us all, with the loss of so many lives, even while knowing that later, also, there will be other difficulties that we will have to face.
