Statistics of the Catholic Church in Hungary and Slovakia

On the occasion of Pope Francis' Apostolic Journey to Hungary and Slovakia, the Bulletin of the Press Office of the Holy See made public some statistics regarding the Catholic Church in the two countries.

In Hungary there are:
5,980,000 Catholics;
2,062 parishes;
2,089 priests;
34 Bishops.

In Slovakia:
3,986,000 Catholics;
1,560 parishes;
3,064 priests;
22 Bishops.

The Salesians are present in Hungary and Slovakia, with the following numbers (as of 31 December 2020):

In the Salesian Province of Hungary (UNG) there are 31 professed; in Slovakia (SLK) there are 195 professed and 6 novices.
