The Church of Saint Francis de Sales

With the development of the Oratory and its activities, Don Bosco felt the need for a church larger than the Pinardi chapel, by now insufficient. Thus, with incredible courage, Don Bosco decided to build a larger church, dedicated to St. Francis de Sales.

The church was consecrated on 20 June 1852 and within these walls, the heart of Don Bosco's work beat for 16 years.

Here Domenico Savio came to pray and in front of the altar of the Madonna, on the right, he consecrated himself to her.

Here Fr Michele Rua said his first Mass.

In this church landed Michele Magone, the brat from Carmagnola, and Francesco Besucco, the little boy from Argentera who in 1863, just like Domenico Savio, confided in Don Bosco that he wanted to become a priest.
