World population: Catholics, priests, missions

In the February issue of the Cagliero11 Missionary Bulletin the forum "World Population: Catholics, Priests, Missions" was published.

Referring to statistics published by Fides Agency, it was estimated that:

In Africa, Catholics represent 19.2% of the population. People per priest are 26,000, while mission stations, without a resident priest, number 70,200.

In America, Catholics are 59.1% of the population. There are 8,350 persons per priest and 20,100 mission stations without a resident priest.

Looking at Asia, Catholics are 3.3 percent of the population with 43,450 persons per priest and 36,900 mission stations.

In Europe, the percentage of Catholics in the population is 39.1 percent, with 4,350 persons per priest and 430 mission stations without a resident priest.

In Oceania, 25.6, the percentage of Catholics, with 9,150 persons per priest and 870 mission stations.
