10 stats to know about the environment

The Salesian Bulletin of Brazil lists 10 environmental statistics on which to reflect.

1) 70% of the earth's surface is covered with water (2.2% fresh water; only 0.3% available for consumption);
2) 3.4 million: the number of people who die on average every year in the world due to contaminated water;
3) Deforestation is the main concern in terms of environmental issues;
4) A ton of recycled paper:

- saves 22 trees
- saves 71% of electricity
- reduces air pollution by 74%

Tomorrow, June 20, is the World Refugee Day. According to the latest report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), it was a record number of refugees in 2019.

Around 80 million people are forced to flee the world, practically 1% of the world's population.
