Statistics from the Catholic Church
On the occasion of the 95th World Mission Day, celebrated Sunday 24 October 2021, the Fides News Agency presented a few statistics regarding the Catholic Church. The tables are taken from the latest published "Statistical Yearbook of the Church" (updated as of December 31, 2019).
The Bell of the Oratory
In November 1846, Don Bosco had the first bell placed on the Pinardi roof.
The bell was created in the “Mazzola” foundry in Valduggia, in the province of Vercelli. It weighed 22 kg and cost Fr Giovanni Vola a little over 88 lire; he had ordered and blessed it.
On 16 and 17 October, two World Days to reflect on
World Food Day is celebrated on October 16, while October 17 commemorates the Eradication of Poverty, two days that are sadly connected.
Mother Mazzarello and the 10 Mothers
Yesterday, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, gathered in Rome to participate in the 24th General Chapter of the FMA, elected Sr. Chiara Cazzuola as their Mother General. She is the 10th Successor of Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello.
