The Valdocco printing press

In October 1861, Don Bosco started the procedure for the opening of a Printing Press at the Oratory. The government raised various obstacles and objections but ultimately granted the necessary permission.

The Bell of the Oratory

In November 1846, Don Bosco had the first bell placed on the Pinardi roof.
The bell was created in the “Mazzola” foundry in Valduggia, in the province of Vercelli. It weighed 22 kg and cost Fr Giovanni Vola a little over 88 lire; he had ordered and blessed it.
