INTERVIEWS

(ANS - Manaus) - "The Synod is of the bishops, but we [indigenous] have contributed much to this Synod." Looking back at that important ecclesial assembly, the only indigenous priest who participated, the Tuyuca Salesian Fr Justino Rezende Sarmento, SDB, a native of the Alto Rio Negro, with 25 years of priesthood and 35 of Salesian religious life, has no doubts in reaffirming the contribution of the indigenous people to the Synod and in emphasizing the importance that the event will have on the local ministry: "After the Synod, the Church in the Amazon will never be the same; it will be different, more present and more committed, more Samaritan."

(ANS – Port Moresby) – “Like most contract workers here in Papua New Guinea, my primary goal is to work. To be a member of any organization was never my intention at all. I had no interest in joining any group even in my home country.” The experience that led Almeric Paul Gatarin to deepen his faith and become a Salesian Cooperator is something very special and that bears witness of how a convincing proposal, constancy and sincere testimony can be very effective together. Here's how he tells his story:

(ANS - Buenos Aires) - Just one day before the start of the International Congress of Mary Help of Christians, we meet Fr Daniel Antúnez, Economer of the Province of South Argentina, who is part of the Congress organizing committee, scheduled in Buenos Aires from 7 to 10 November. "It will be a congress that will remind us of the great past of Argentine history and that deep love for the Virgin under the title of Help of Christians that the first Salesians brought us," he said.
