(ANS - Rome) - In exactly a week from today, Thursday 20 September, the International Congress "Youth and life choices: educational perspectives" opens at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in Rome. In view of this great event, which aims to be a contribution of the Salesian Family at the next Synod of Bishops on "Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment", we addressed several questions to the Rector Magnificus of the UPS, Fr Mauro Mantovani.
(ANS - Nairobi) - Interview with Paolo Vaschetto, 48, Salesian brother in the footsteps of Don Bosco between Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria. "My relationship with Don Bosco was born in everyday life, without 'special effects'. I attended the Salesian Oratory of Bra, a town in the province of Cuneo, where I was born, and I felt a desire to serve the Lord in dedicating myself to young people, especially the poorest. And the opportunity to live and work in Africa did the rest, giving impetus to my vocation."
(ANS -San Pedro Carchá) – We talk to Fr Vittorio Castagna who "met" Don Bosco through a film and has been a Salesian missionary in Guatemala for eight years. "My first 'encounter' with the Salesian world I remember well. It happened in Washington through the images of the film Don Bosco, made by the director Leandro Castellani in 1988, on the occasion of the centenary of the saint's death. I was eight or nine years old: my father worked at the Italian Embassy in the United States of America ... ".
