Portugal - Salesians of Funchal give social and pastoral answers

Funchal, Portugal - March 2020 - Following the closure of the schools decreed by the Portuguese government on March 16 and the declaration of a state of emergency decreed by the President of the Portuguese Republic on March 18, the Salesians of Funchal have implemented a series of activities in favor of young people and families. The Family Attention Service of "SolSal", the social service of "Fundação Salesianos", distributes basic necessities to 14 needy families. On the Facebook page of the Salesian school, pupils are invited daily to participate in the "Good morning"; the animators of the Salesian Youth Movement (MGS) share the videos of "Edições Salesianas" with the title "Praying in Lent" through Messenger and Facebook; the educational community of the school and the youth of the MGS are invited to celebrate Sunday through the celebration scheme of the National Secretariat for the Pastoral Care of Culture.
