Kathmandu, Nepal - May 2020 - Salesian centers in Nepal are making their contribution to alleviating the suffering and difficulties of people, difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown, which lasted from 24 March to 18 May. The “Don Bosco Sirsia” center offered spaces for the distribution of rations by the local municipality. Two centers contributed with Rs. 50,000 to the Mayor of Baroul-Chakraghatti fund. “Don Bosco Lubhu” and “Don Bosco Techo” distributed relief rations to 400 families of children in schools and surrounding areas. Also, an awareness-raising programme has been set up for 10 schools in 4 districts of Nepal. Other aid possibilities are being considered. Only one hospital in Kathmandu has been designated to treat patients with COVID-19 and small quarantine facilities have been arranged in various centers. There are currently 675 confirmed cases and 3 deaths.
