Hungary - Online representation of Christmas by Budapest Salesians

20 January 2021

Budapest, Hungary - December 2020 - The story of the birth of Jesus Christ is a tradition of the Salesian Church of Mary Help of Christians in Budapest, in the Óbuda district, which is performed every year on 24 December. This year, due to the pandemic, it was not possible to do so, but a group of people launched the idea of producing it online with costumed photographs representing various scenes of the nativity scene to be collected in a video. Thus, through the YouTube channel and the Facebook page, the faithful of the Budapest-Óbuda community experienced the beauty of being together online and were able to spread a message of love, hope and positivity. Twenty families took part in the representation of the crib, with the technical support of the students of the Salesian middle school "Saints Peter and Paul". Fr János Andrásfalvy, SDB, Hungary Provincial (UNG), offered a concluding thought by encouraging the virtual community to dare and hope.
