San Benito, Guatemala - April 2021 - In the afternoon of April 24 in San Benito, Department of Petén, the patron saint "San Benito of Palermo" was celebrated, with the pilgrimage through the city streets of the oldest statue of the saint and the Eucharist celebrated in the chapel in the La Ermita district. In the evening, the "Youth Festival of the Good Shepherd" was celebrated, the youth festival par excellence of the Apostolic Vicariate of Petén which this year, due to the pandemic, was celebrated in a community way and at the same time in every parish, respecting health measures. The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) of San Benito, in small numbers, participated in the Eucharist presided over by Fr Luis Fernando Acevedo, SDB, who highlighted the figure of Saint Joseph as a present father, a worker, pure and chaste; he also underlined Don Bosco's heart as shepherd; and he exhorted those present to respond to the vocational and missionary call that God addresses to each one of us.
