Spain - Feast of "St James the Greater" Province
Madrid, Spain - May 2021 - The feast day of the Salesian Province "St. James the Greater" (SSM) was celebrated on 1 May, locally and with an online meeting with all the communities of the Province. The day began with the Eucharist celebrated in each community, with the celebration of the anniversaries of the Salesians and the remembrance of the deceased Salesians. The moment of the online meeting, mid-morning, was used to put in contact, via the Zoom platform, the more than 500 Salesians of the 51 communities of the SSM Province. During the online meeting, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, spoke; after his greeting, he recalled some elements that are being worked on in the Region: the construction of the Salesian region itself, the vocational identity, the insistence on the first proclamation of evangelization and education to the faith. Fr Fernando García, SSM Provincial, concluded the event with two good wishes: recalling the words of Don Bosco, he asked to "make the family spirituality flourish in the early days"; then he encouraged the participants "not to live closed in on ourselves, but to be Salesians present in the life of the houses".
