Chile – Fostering prevention of abuse meeting: culture of care and protection
Chile - May 2021 - On 7 May, about 30 people participated in the online meeting of those responsible for the prevention of abuse in the Salesian schools in Chile. The digital meeting deepened the ISE document (integrity in ecclesial service), which provides guidelines for exercise of service in the Church. The process of preparing this document was presented by Pilar Ramírez, director of the Department for the Prevention of Abuse of the Episcopal Conference of Chile (CECh). The introduction to the document states that "these are the guidelines that the Catholic Church has decided to follow in Chile to ensure, in every service we offer, a culture of good treatment, respect for the dignity of each person, care and attention of themselves, in forms and ways consistent with the essence of our mission, which is Christian love announced with life itself”. 15 dioceses, the Conference of Superiors Major of the Religious of Chile (Conferre), of which 533 religious and 905 lay people, participated in the drafting of the text. After the presentation, a group workspace was opened.
