Kenya - First intermediate meeting of SAAM

Nairobi, Kenya - June 2021 - The first intermediate meeting of the partners of the “SAAM” (Supporting Alliance for African Mobility) project took place at the “Masai Lodge” from 31 May to 4 June. The event was attended by the majority of partners from the European Union and the African Union. The "SAAM" project is promoted by "San Viator", coordinated by "Asociación Mundus" under the aegis of "Don Bosco Tech Africa" (DBTA), and aims to support mobility for education and vocational training in Africa. Leaders of many Salesian Vocational Training Centers took part in the meeting. Fr Simon Asira, SDB, Provincial of East Africa (AFE), gave the inaugural address, while Fr T.J. George, DBTA Executive Director, shared the experiences together with other Salesians. A public session was held on 4 June with the participation of the Spanish Ambassador to Kenya, Javier Garcia de Viedma Bernaldo de Quirós, the Head of Development Cooperation and interim ambassador of the EU Delegation to Kenya, Hubert Kerr, and the Senior Consultant for Youth, of the Department of Science and Technology and Human Resources of the African Union, Nicholas Ouma. Fr Patrick Anthonyraj, SDB, member of the Youth Ministry Department, presented the concluding message.
