Spain - In the footsteps of Salesian missionary Fr José Luis Carreño
Pamplona, Spain - August 2021 - Fr Ivo Coelho, General Councilor for Formation, and Fr Francisco Santos, of the same Department, travelled to the Navarre region to work on the biography of Fr José Luis Carreño. The trip's objective is to complete the biography of the much-loved missionary in India that is building the Department for Formation. Fr Carreño spent most of his life between India and the Philippines; in recent years, he lived in Navarre near his family and the Salesian community of the Foral Community. He carried out the Alzuza project "The Missionary's house". In order to complete the biography, Fr Coelho and Fr Santos met the people who lived with Fr Carreño in recent years. They also viewed his writings in order to be able to translate and disseminate them. During their stay in the Salesian house in Pamplona, Director Fr Ángel Miranda accompanied them to the most significant places, concluding their visit in the town of Javier, the birthplace of San Francisco Javier and a meeting place for all missionaries.
