India - Ecumenical Prayer Service
Mumbai, India - September 2021 - On 1 September, the young people of the “Don Bosco Youth Services” at the headquarters of the Salesian Province of Mumbai (INB), organized an ecumenical prayer service called “Abraham's Tent” to coincide with the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation announced by Pope Francis. The young people pitched a tent inside the A.V. Room, decorated it with exotic plants and fauna to symbolically represent the theme of the Day "A home for all". The ecumenical prayer service was also officially registered on the Season of Creation website (www.seasonofcreation.org), as a launch event. About 14 young people and 10 Salesians participated in this ecumenical prayer service together with online participants on Instagram. After reading the scriptures, Fr Christopher George explained the history and meaning of the "Season of Creation". The prayer service ended with the blessing of Fr Vinod Mascarenhas. The "Tent of Abraham" is the beginning of a series of youth activities that include meditations on nature, Marian walks, cleaning and planting campaigns, advocacy initiatives and youth conferences on the environment.
