Fiji Islands - Salesians on mission in villages of Muanikoso and Makoi
Suva, Fiji Islands - August 2021 - Since the restrictions for the containment of the pandemic came into force at the end of last March, the Salesians of the "Don Bosco House" have maintained close contact with young people through social networks, phone calls and e-mails. Meetings have been organized on the Zoom platform, but most of the young people do not have access to any digital devices. For this reason, the Salesian community decided to photocopy lessons and catechism activities, cook sweet doughnuts and go on missions to the villages of Muanikoso and Makoi. The Salesians were welcomed by young people and families with great joy and, even while maintaining a safe distance, the conversations were lively and copies of the lessons and catechism activities were much appreciated, as were the sweets. The activities also included moments of prayer and the distribution of rosaries and copies of the Salesian Bulletin.
