Lubumbashi, D.R. Congo - November 2021 - Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major, is continuing his visit to the city of Lubumbashi. On Wednesday 17 November, accompanied by Fr Guillermo Basañes, Provincial of the Central Africa Province (AFC), he presided the Eucharist for the Rectors of all the Salesian houses at the chapel of the Theological Institute. During the homily, referring to the readings of the day, he exhorted the Salesian Rectors and the members of the Provincial Council to be faithful to God. The second stop of the day was at the Archbishopric of Lubumbashi, where the Salesians were welcomed by Most Rev. Fulgence Muteba Mugalu, the Metropolitan Archbishop. After a meeting of about 30 minutes, the delegation had a guided tour of the "Family of God" Church and the "Saints Peter and Paul" Cathedral, where Fr Martoglio prayed in front of the tombs that house the remains of the deceased metropolitans of Lubumbashi, including the Salesian Bishop Jean-Pierre Tafunga Mbayo. Fr Martoglio's day ended with a meeting with the Rectors.
