16 December 2021

Yaoundé, Cameroon - December 2021 – 600 Young people from the Salesian Oratories gathered together for the Regional Oratory Day celebrations on 12 December, with their Salesian & FMA animators of Mimboman. The event was attended by young people from 9 oratories of the region. Fr Privat Fouda, Delegate for Youth Ministry of the Salesian theological studentate of Yaoundé, presided over the opening Eucharist during which he said: “It is an overwhelming experience to be surrounded by so many young people; as Don Bosco said: ‘for you we live and for you we are also ready to sacrifice our life.’” Then the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary presented a scene on the life of their founder, the Salesian Blessed Fr Luigi Variara. After lunch, friendly football, basketball and volleyball tournaments were held. The highlight of the day was the cultural festival, where each oratory tried to excel with its own presentation of exciting cultural songs and dances. The day ended with the traditional Salesian "good night".
