Angola - First literacy course and first pastoral assembly of Salesian community in Huambo

23 February 2022

Huambo, Angola - February 2022 - From February 14 to 18, the new Salesian community of Huambo held its first literacy course. This is the first formal activity since the official arrival of the Salesians on August 22, 2021. The community plans to organize literacy courses using the "Don Bosco Method," which is widespread throughout the country, for over 2,000 women from the neighborhoods surrounding the Salesian work. Furthermore, on February 19 and 20, the first Pastoral Assembly was held in which all the representatives of the small communities and movements took part. During the two days, those present reflected on the Synodality of the Church and on the new document of the Youth Ministry "The Parish and the Shrines entrusted to the Salesians", thus laying the groundwork for the elaboration of the Salesian Educational Project.
