02 March 2022

Goma, D.R. Congo - February 2022 - On February 26, at the "Don Bosco Ngangi" center, about thirty Salesians of Don Bosco, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Salvatorian Sisters, and lay collaborators participated in a capacity-building workshop on the protection of minors and vulnerable persons. Fr Jean-Pierre Muhima, SDB, Rector of "Don Bosco Ngangi", stated that the objective is to provide people involved in child protection with a solid legal and practical foundation for better performance. Participants then delved into the theme of the lecture by Fr Pascal Mumba, SDB, on Salesian education; civil rights of the child under international and national legal instruments; and the policy of protection of minors and vulnerable persons of the Salesian Province of Central Africa (AFC). Salesian collaborators involved in the protection of minors and vulnerable persons observe the guidelines of ordinary protection at the family level; special protection in Salesian reception centers; and exceptional protection for children associated with armed groups.
