Brazil - Salesian College of Salvador celebrates its 122nd anniversary with library modernization
Salvador, Brazil - March 2022 - The Salesian College of Salvador celebrated its 122nd anniversary with the reopening, on March 11, of the "Mary Help of Christians Library", following a major renovation. The modernization was based on the directives of the International Federation of Librarians' Associations and Institutions, to offer the school community a learning center, a playful space to encourage reading, culture, and the sharing of knowledge. The library was inaugurated in 1983 with a small collection of research and works suitable for the study of the subjects then taught. Currently, the facility collects about 6,000 copies of paper books and over 33,000 digital titles, the result of a collaboration with the platform "Árvore Livros", which have been selected and organized for each school area and are available in three languages. The Salesian College of Salvador in its 122-year history has formed various personalities, from artists to local and national politicians, through human education and value-based teaching.
