João Pessoa, Brazil - April 2022 - On April 2 and 3, after two years of online meetings, an in-person meeting of the Interprovincial Councils of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) of the Northeast was held at the Salesian parish of "Our Lady of Sorrows" in João Pessoa, with representatives of the SDB and FMA Provinces of Recife. The meeting opened with a Mass presided by the parish priest, Fr Renato Jorge. In his homily, he highlighted the importance and role of young people in the Salesian presence. After Mass, the SYM Councilors participated in a formation session on the Strenna 2022 of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, "Do all through love, nothing through constraint", and a moment of sharing experiences of each local SYM. Then, in the afternoon, the work continued, divided into SDB and FMA provinces. In the SDB group, three priorities were identified for the year 2022: to encourage the accompaniment of young people, to present the new Provincial Council of the SYM in the Salesian works of the Northeast, and to rethink the activities proposed by the SYM. The first day ended with sports and musical activities and the traditional Salesian "good night". On April 3, joint activities were planned: regional formation meetings, Eucharistic activities in tune with the 18th National Eucharistic Congress, the Salesian Youth Festival, and the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
