Spain – Fr Gildasio Mendes visits Salesian Publishing House "Edebé"

Barcelona, Spain - April 2022 – Fr Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, taking advantage of his participation in the meeting with the Provincials of the Mediterranean Region, in response to the invitation of the Regional Councilor Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, visited Barcelona. During his stay, he met with the Salesians and the team of the Salesian publishing house "Edebé". In this way, the General Councilor was able to get to know the publishing house, which is a point of reference for Salesian works, up close. Last week, he met Antonio Garrido, General Manager of "Edebé", who introduced him to the organization and objectives of the publishing house. On April 19, Fr Mendes personally visited the work. He first visited the central offices located in the Salesian reality of Sarrià (Barcelona) accompanied by Marta Palomares, Project Development Manager, and was interviewed by Marta Muntada, Communications Manager, on Social Communication issues. Afterward, he met with members of the Editorial Board. Iván Olivé, Marketing and Commercial Director, explained to Fr Mendes the publishing projects that "Edebé" is working on and how it faces the future, accompanying and assisting schools in their digitization process. Finally, the General Councilor visited the "Edebé" warehouse, located on the outskirts of Barcelona, accompanied by the Director of Finance and Services, Xavier Español, and was thus able to verify the size of the volumes and the rigorous organization that underlies the work of a publisher that sells thousands of books.
