29 April 2022

Campinápolis, Brazil - April 2022 - The "Operazione Mato Grosso" group, with the collaboration of some Italian benefactors and as part of a long-distance adoption program, carries out a food support project that involves the distribution of food donations to indigenous children and families at Christmas and Easter. This year, 300 food baskets were donated and distributed on April 12 and 13 in the villages of Campinápolis, in the indigenous land of Paraboboure. The "Operation Mato Grosso" group is led by Vanderlei Miranda Souza, a volunteer who has been working with the Xavante people for 20 years, and who said, "God never abandons us, especially in this moment of crisis, of difficulty, in which so many people are suffering; we still find so many generous people in this world to do good." Donations on holidays strengthen the work of the Salesians who work throughout the year among the indigenous people. "For us Salesians, having the group 'Operation Mato Grosso' as a partner in this work of service to the Xavante indigenous community is an immense gift from God," said Salesian deacon José Alves.
