12 May 2022

Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic - May 2022 - With the participation of 42 chapter members, representing all Salesian presences in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico, the 22nd Provincial Chapter of the Province of the Antilles (ANT) began on May 9 at the Salesian Center for Promotion and Spirituality "Pinar Quemado." "A Healthy and Committed Province with Challenges to Achieve" was the title of the report on the state of the ANT Province by Provincial Fr Jose Pastor Ramírez in the official opening act. "The Provincial Chapter is the fraternal gathering where local communities strengthen their sense of belonging to the Province by dealing with some specific issues. We keep in mind the following words: fraternity, discernment, listening, and vision, from which we must always start," said Fr Pastor Ramírez. Before formally beginning the Provincial Chapter, the chapter members participated in a retreat led by Fr Jorge Santiago. Until May 14, Salesians will reflect on charismatic identity and work to create a Province as St. John Bosco dreamed of it.
