Funchal, Portugal - May 2022 - On the night of May 12, 2022, the eve of the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima, the faithful of the parish of "Our Lady of Fatima" in Funchal, together with the boys of the Salesian Boarding School of Funchal and associated groups, carried out a procession with candles in honor of Our Lady. Leading the procession was the Bishop of Funchal, Msgr. Nuno Brás, who also presided over the Eucharist, and who on the occasion made an appeal for peace in the world, especially for Ukraine. Every year Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Funchal, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Cabo Girão (Câmara de Lobos), celebrate the Apparitions of Our Lady in Fatima with a torchlight procession on May 12, which is also held in many other parishes in the diocese. The procession of Our Lady of Fatima was held again this year in the traditional manner for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.
