Quito, Ecuador - May 2022 - The Salesian Province of Ecuador (ECU), through "Misión Don Bosco" and with the support of the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS), organized Solidarity Day 2022 on May 28. The event was held to raise funds and join the Salesian Congregation's efforts around the world with the "Ukraine Needs Us" campaign to provide humanitarian aid to people affected by the war. During the Solidarity Day, sports activities, children's games, food sales, tournaments, a solidarity raffle, and the "Don Bosco" raffle were held on the "El Girón" campus of UPS in Quito. Prizes were awarded thanks to the support of private companies and Salesian communities. The event was organized by the lay staff and community of the Provincial house. Fr. Francisco Sánchez, ECU Provincial, thanked everyone for their support and mentioned that in Ukraine about 60 Salesians are working in Salesian works that have become shelters for those displaced by the conflict. He added that this activity responds to the call of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernádez Artime, to cope with this emergency and also serves.
