13 June 2022

K'Long, Vietnam - June 2022 - The formation course for Salesians in the quinquennium phase was held at the Salesian Retreat Center in K'Long from June 4-7, with the participation of 50 Salesian priests and Salesian coadjutors. This year's course -  its theme "Pastoral Counseling and Accompaniment of Young Families" - was led by Fr. Joseph Hoang Ngoc Dung from the Diocese of Saigon. Also present at the meeting were Fr. Barnabas Le An Phong, Provincial of Vietnam (VIE), Fr. Joseph Nguyen Kim Khanh, Provincial Vicar, Fr. Joseph Do Duc Dung, Provincial Delegate for Formation, and Fr. Peter Nguyen Viet Quang Minh, Delegate for Youth Ministry. There were also talks with testimonies of missionary and vocational experiences. The Provincial Delegate for Formation mentioned ongoing formation, especially refresher courses at the individual, community, and Provincial levels, urging participants to study with the same mentality as Don Bosco. Then there was a time to share experiences during the five years. The Provincial, for his part, stressed the importance of harmonizing the three inseparable elements of Salesian consecrated life: spiritual life associated with prayer, community life linked to communion and sharing, and mission associated with commitment. Finally, some plans of the Youth Ministry Commission were presented and new documents of the Congregation were explained.
