Belgium - Don Bosco International at meeting of religious organizations active in relief of war victims in Ukraine

17 June 2022

Brussels, Belgium - June 2022 - On Wednesday, June 15, Renato Cursi, Executive Secretary of "Don Bosco International," the body that represents the Salesian Congregation to the institutions of the European Union (EU), participated in a meeting that gathered in Brussels the leaders of religious organizations active in the relief of war victims in Ukraine. During the meeting, which was also attended by Salesian Msgr. Vitaliy Kryvytskyi, bishop of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr diocese, it was noted that humanitarian organizations working in Ukraine are beginning to show some "fatigue": great work is being done, but there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding regular jobs for refugees and the reopening of schools in September. There are still many material needs and the number of poor people is growing rapidly. The main material needs listed at the meeting are:

- Ambulances
- Mini-vans
- Refrigerated cars (with refrigerators to transport food and medicine)
- Mobile kitchens and food
- Electricity generators
- Medicines
- Detergents
- Mattresses, beds
- Folding tables.

Renato Cursi, during an earlier sharing with Fr. George Menamparampil, Head of the Salesian Emergency Response Coordination, assured the participants that the Salesian Family is and always will be in collaboration with all people of goodwill.
