Portugal - Feast Day of Provincial Community
Porto, Portugal - June 2022 - The Salesian community of Porto was chosen to host the June 11 celebration of the Feast Day of the Provincial Community of the Salesians of Portugal (POR). The day began with a formative session by Prof. Luís Amaral, who with great dexterity presented the figures of Fr. Baltazar Guedes, St. John Bosco, and the Venerable Fr. Américo de Aguiar, and their commitment to the neediest youth, each in his specific historical, sociocultural, and ecclesial context. Then the Eucharist was celebrated, presided over by Fr. José Aníbal Mendonça, POR Provincial, during which five young Salesians, students of theology, received the ministry of Acolyte. In the afternoon, there was a moment of fraternity, marked by the presentation of some songs, poems and speeches, and the speech of Fr. João Chaves, who thanked the Provincial for the work done on behalf of the Salesian Family. Finally, tributes were presented to Salesians celebrating significant anniversaries of religious and priestly life this year.
