27 June 2022

Batangas, Philippines – June 2022 - Mary Help of Christians Center for Spirituality, Batangas, the Philippines, 24 June 2022–51 Salesian priests and brothers gathered from 19 to 24 June to celebrate the Provincial Chapter with the theme “Renewed Salesians and Lay for the Youth of Today.” It commenced in a spirit of prayer and recollection preached by Rev Fr. Dino Gregorio Redoblado, OFM, current Provincial Superior of the Order of the Franciscans Minor in the Philippines. His conference zeroed in on Synodal Discernment.

The framework is structured following the three nuclei (i.e., Priority of Salesian Mission among Today’s Young People, Profile of the Salesian Today, and Together with Lay People in Formation and in Mission). In keeping with the SDB Constitutions, the PC also reviewed and revised the Provincial Directory (art. 171). Br. Carmelo Martinez served as its moderator.
Ms. Eloisa Abanador, Ms. Angerica Fesariton, Mr. Mark Geronimo, and Ms. Bernadette Salonga served as PC observers. They are lay mission partners and young people invited from the local settings of the FIN Province.

The PC concluded with the renewal of six young Salesians from the Postnovitiate Community.
As per the Constitution of the Salesians of Don Bosco (art. 170), “the provincial chapter is the fraternal gathering in which the local communities strengthen their sense of belonging to the provincial community, through their common concern for its general problems.”
Fr. Joel Camaya, SDB, Professor of Sacred Scriptures facilitated a Lectio Divina on Psalm 51 which is the Biblical basis of the theme of the PC of the FIN Province.
The celebration of the PC was held amidst two solemnities (Nativity of St. John the Baptist and Sacred Heart of Jesus).
