D.R. Congo - Kinshasa Salesian Missionary Group youth formation meeting

26 July 2022

Kinshasa, D.R. Congo - July 2022 - On July 24, the youth of the Salesian Missionary Group of Kinshasa gathered for a formation meeting on the theme "Can we be true missionaries amid the noise?" The day, held at the Jesuit Fathers' "Maison Saint Ignace," began with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Rigobert Kyungu, Provincial of the Jesuits, in the presence of Fr. Jerry Matsoumbou, Delegate for Youth Ministry of the Africa Congo Vice Province (ACC), and Fr. Jacques Isha, who accompanies the missionary group. After Mass, at the conference room, Fr. Kyungu spoke about the different elements of a missionary's identity and the dangers of a society dragged down by the "noise of the world." He stated that it is possible to be a good missionary only if one leaves periods of silence in one's days to encounter God and feed on His Word. After the speaker's talk, an intense question-and-answer session followed to deepen the day's theme. During the traditional "good night," Fr. Matsoumbou invited the youth to foster the atmosphere of familiarity and synodality within the group.
