Argentina - Meeting of Endepa South: "Consolidating processes of intercultural accompaniment and strengthening of the Mapuche"
Rio Negro, Argentina - September 2022 - From September 23 to 25, the Assembly of the Southern Region of the National Pastoral Team for Aborigines (Endepa) was held in Stefenelli, Rio Negro. From the Salesian Province of Southern Argentina (ARS), it was attended by Fr. Antonio Sánchez, parish priest of Chimpay; Fr. Francisco Chimento, Rector and parish priest of Zapala and Provincial Delegate of the Missionary Camp; and María Beatriz Manso, of the Provincial Team of the Missionary Camp. Several topics were addressed during the days, such as: strengthening culture, sometimes with school support; prevention of problematic consumption; and legal counseling on issues such as territory, culture, and language. In these years, Endepa South's goals are: to consolidate the processes of intercultural accompaniment and strengthening of the Mapuche Original People, starting from a respectful attitude of listening and dialogue, from the Gospel of Jesus and the Gospel values that embody these cultures; to defend Life, Identity, Territory and the Common Home; to seek the Good Life; and to continue working on the integral accompaniment of Mapuche communities, placing special emphasis on what their worldview means.
