13 October 2022

Viedma, Argentina - October 2022 - On Sunday, October 9, the Salesian presence of the Viedma-Patagonia region gathered at 5 a.m. in the gymnasium of the "Artemide Zatti" school in Viedma to participate in the live broadcast from St. Peter's Square, where Pope Francis, in the presence of thousands of faithful, proclaimed Zatti a saint. Then, at 11 a.m., several hundred people attended, on the esplanade of the shrine, the local celebration, presided over by Fr. Gabriel Doddi, Economer of the Salesian Province of Argentina South (ARS). In his message, Fr. Doddi shared three aspects of Zatti's life witness: "The gift we received on the day of our baptism, so we are already saints. We live life by becoming aware of this reality. The second aspect, a dedicated life, spent in the service of those who need us most. Finally, accompaniment, in the style of Jesus, to restore to so many of our brothers and sisters the dignity they have lost, because of illness, pain or suffering. Zatti has spent his life doing good!" It was a celebration full of joy and enthusiasm, in a city that not only has Zatti for a patron, but is and remains a witness to his works, his steps, his life. Viedma will complete the celebrations for St. Artemide Zatti with a large youth festival to be held next October 29 and 30.
