Mogofores, Portugal - October 2022 - More than 400 pilgrims took part in the 36th Pilgrimage of the Salesian Family to the Shrine of Our Lady Help of Christians in Mogofores on October 22, despite a very rainy day. After welcoming the pilgrims by the Rector of the Salesian House in Mogofores, Fr. José Aníbal Mendonça, Superior of the Salesian Province of Portugal (POR), presided over the solemn morning prayer, accompanied by the ADMA choir and a small orchestra. Then, Fr Álvaro Lago, with the National Council of the Salesian Youth Movement, presented the theme "With Mary, Outgoing." Seeking to enhance the various messages that Pope Francis has sent to the whole Church, and in particular to young people, they highlighted the impact and importance of a life based on the journey toward others, especially those who need it most. As part of the presentation, there was also a motivational video on the formation of the younger generation in the meaning of a life given, as well as the testimony of one of the young women of the Council who testified to her experience of giving her time to the elderly. The pilgrimage culminated with the Eucharist presided over by Msgr. António Moiteiro, bishop of the diocese, while the pilgrimage could not leave due to rain, and only a short procession took place in the outer courtyards of the Shrine.
