India - Rector Major's first stop in Nongpoh parish, greeted by warm welcome from students and members of Salesian Family
Nongpoh, India - October 2022 - The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, who arrived in the Salesian Province "St. John Paul II" in Shillong (INS), made his first stop in the parish dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption on October 27, greeted by a warm welcome from students and members of the Salesian Family. In his speech, the Rector Major urged the youth to always be happy and cheerful and to prepare for life, adding that they live a good life based on strong faith. Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime's visit to the INS Province comes as part of the celebration of the centenary of Salesian presence in Northeast India, marked by a youth event, scheduled for Oct. 27-29, and a solemn Eucharistic celebration of thanksgiving for the centenary, which will take place on Sunday, Oct. 30. In the morning, the Rector Major also met with the Provincial Superior of the Catechist Sisters of Mary Immaculate Help of Christians (SMI), sisters and postulants.
