D.R. Congo - Opening of pastoral year of Central Africa Salesians
Lubumbashi, R.D. Congo - October 2022 - The Salesians of Don Bosco of the "Mary Most Holy Assumption" Province of Central Africa (AFC), together with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), celebrated the opening of the pastoral year 2022-2023 on October 23, World Mission Day, with the theme "Young people, as a leaven of human life, let us strengthen our bonds with a life-generating presence." The theme was taken from the pastoral letter of the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi on living together, the Strenna of the Rector Major, and the theme General Chapter of the FMA. The celebration was presided over by Fr. Guillermo Basañes, Superior of the AFC Province, who, during his homily, urged thousands of young people from all Salesian works to take St. Artemide Zatti as a model of life. "Young people, like St. Artemide Zatti, let us take our bicycles and go to others who need our help, bringing them the Word of God and Our Lady, through the recitation of the Rosary." The day ended with recreational activities and a "good night" by the FMA Provincial's delegate.
