India – Rector Major’s Visit to Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Shillong

29 October 2022

Shillong, India - October 2022 - On Saturday afternoon, October 29, the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, visited the "Auxiulium Convent," which houses the local community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. After the traditional and colorful welcoming ceremony, he was welcomed into the community chapel for a moment of prayer. With reference to the liturgical memorial of Blessed Michael Rua, he recalled the promise Don Bosco made to little Michael - "You and I will go halves in everything" - and then offered food for thought to the pre-aspiring FMAs present there, inviting them to ask themselves, "What is God's plan for my life?" Then, with the official welcome by Sister Elizabeth George, FMA Provincial in Shillong, the family dialogue session with the religious began. Among the topics discussed: the growth of vocations, to be lived with great humility and a sense of responsibility; the need to remain radical in the evangelical option, like the first missionaries, in order to be true witnesses of Jesus; the continuous presence at the side of people in need, especially the humblest ones; fraternity as an evangelical witness; and fidelity to the mission of the FMA as desired by Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello.
