Chile - Salesians of Iquique give thanks for 125 years of presence in the region
Iquique, Chile - October 2022 - With a celebration held in the city's cathedral, members of the Pastoral Educational Community of Don Bosco College in Iquique gave thanks to God for 125 years of Salesian activity in the Tarapacá region. The celebration was presided over by the Bishop of Iquique, Msgr. Isauro Covili, concelebrated by the Provincial of the Salesians of Chile, Fr. Carlo Lira, and the rector of the religious community, Fr. Néstor Muñoz. The activity was attended by educators, Coordinating Council members, parents, students, pastoral groups, and authorities, such as Iquique Mayor Mauricio Soria, Senator Jorge Soria, and Councilwoman Gladys Matus. During his speech, Mauricio Soria, stressed the importance of the Salesians in Iquique: "happy to celebrate these 125 years of presence in the region, I have good memories of my school life and the message that John Bosco left us." Fr. Néstor Muñoz said, "This year we commemorate 125 years. This history was built by us Salesians accompanied by the laity, for all this we give thanks to God."
